Building Maintenance

The Building Maintenance unit of Facilities Management provides routine and preventative maintenance. Most notably they are the folks who change the light bulbs within the 5,000,000+ square feet of state funded space here at UCI, as well as perform roof preventative maintenance and minor repairs. They also provide basic maintenance services to the classrooms, lecture halls, restrooms, halls, and lobby areas.

  • Ceiling tile repair and replacement
  • Cove molding and vinyl floor tiles
  • Dead animal pickup; interior only (exterior: grounds unit)
  • Fire extinguisher cabinet repair and replacement
  • Flood response
  • Fountain upkeep
  • Fume hood cables, sashes, lights, and guard repair and replacement
  • General assignment classrooms: projection screens and projection equipment, desk and chair repair and replacement, and clocks
  • Graffiti removal
  • Light bulb and ballast replacement
  • Light fixtures, lens diffusers and task lighting
  • Restroom dispenser repair and replacement; paper towel, sanitary bins, seat covers, soap dispensers, and toilet paper
  • Restroom repair and replacement of mirrors, partitions, and toilet seats
  • Roof and rain gutter repair and preventative maintenance
  • Roof leaks due to rain, roof drains and roof hatch
  • Stair tread
  • Windows
    • Blind repair, replacement, and tinting
    • Broken window replacement and caulking
